Laurel Gene Carpenter

Graveside services for Laurel “Bob” Gene Carpenter, 68, will be held 10:00 a.m., Friday, December 7, 2012, on the grounds of VA Cemetery, Leesville, LA, under the direction of Hixson Funeral Home, Leesville, LA.

Bob was born February 25, 1944, in Amin Township to the late Walter and Doris Housler Carpenter, and was called home November 29, 2012, in Lake Charles, LA. He enjoyed carpentry work, gardening, reading and loved riding his motorcycle. Bob was very computer savvy. He served this grateful nation by serving twenty-five dedicated years in the United States Air Force. Bob was a wonderful loving husband and a great role model. It is said that his greatest accomplishments were finishing school and six years of college while enlisted in the United States Air Force.

Bob is preceded in death by his parents and two sisters. Left to cherish Bob’s memories will be his beloved wife of twenty years; Jennie Lee Westover Carpenter, two daughters: Becky Jean Chambers and husband Rockie, and Debbie Jean Carpenter, five step-children: Anthony Craig Westover and wife Nelda, Andrea Cristina Westover, Ulisses Westover and wife Thelma, Dion Carey Castelazo, and Santiago Raul Orquiz and wife Vanessa, eleven grandchildren: Drew, Chelsea, and Reagan Chambers, Jordan Huss, Amandalee Westover, Anthony Craig, Jr., Christa, Emily and Ulisses Westover, Jr., Dion Rulon Castelazo and Elizabeth Diane Orquiz, six siblings, along with numerous extended family members and many wonderful friends.

Honoring Bob as pallbearers will be the Military.
