Mr. Jerry Leland Garrett, 76, of Leesville, LA passed away on Saturday, December 31, 2016. He was born on July 7, 1940, to Jack Garrett and Francis Springer Garrett in Boise, Idaho. Mr. Garrett retired as a SFC after serving in the USAF and the US Army, and served in Vietnam from 1965-1966. He was very patriotic and proud that he was honored to serve his country. Mr. Garrett received many awards and medals to include; NDSM, PH, GCMPL 5th award, VSM, VCM, ARCOM, SS, RVNGC w/BS, RUNGC w/PALM, RVNGE w/BS, VC of G w/PALM/BS. Mr. Garrett enjoyed fishing, and gardening. He had a green thumb and could grow anything; he loved to work in his vegetable garden. Mr. Garrett was a kind and compassionate man who loved his family and his dog Bowzer. He will be missed by all who were blessed to know him.
Mr. Garrett was preceded in death by his father, Jack Garrett; one brother, Harvey Gordy; two sisters, Wanda Scarborough and Norma Ronquist.
Those left to cherish his memory are his loving wife, Berna Garrett; mother, Francis Springer Gordy; son, Stephen Garrett; daughter Krystil Fox and husband, Clint; two grandchildren, Garrett Fox and Jackson Fox; three brothers, Speed Garrett and wife, Robin Peters, Wayne Garrett and wife, Roseann, and Kenneth Gordy.
Visitation will be Thursday, January 5, 2017, from 10:00 AM until 12:00 PM at Hixson Funeral Home in Leesville, LA. Graveside Services will be Thursday, January 5, 2017 at 2:00PM in the Central Louisiana Veterans Cemetery.
