Bob went to Tennessee Tech and earned his degree in Mechanical Engineering. He had an amazing career and worked for companies including Brown Stove Works, McWane, US Pipe and Steel, TVA, Masonite, and Voight-England, then later he and Dot started their own successful business, Sloan Technical.
He was an avid University of Tennessee fan and couldn't wait until Tennessee beat Alabama last month, which he accurately predicted. Bob couldn't pass up an opportunity for a good cup of coffee. When his children were little, he showered them with butterfly kisses. When you had a problem, you always knew Bob would have an answer. He would always show you how it should be done (the right way) the first time with you watching and learning, but the second time, you would get to show him if you were paying attention with him by your side to manage the process. There was always time to chat and solve the problems of the world with him.
Bob was a Mason and member of the Leeds Masonic Lodge #446. He was also a Hamasa Shriner and rode with the Shriner's Hamasa 350 Motor Corp. in Laurel, MS He was a member of the Spring Dale Cart Club in Red Bank, TN. He was a faithful member of the First Baptist Church in Leeds, AL.
Bob was involved with his sons in the Y-Indian Guides, Cub Scouts through Boy Scouts and loved some Pinewood derby events with them. He loved camping, working on projects, fixing things better than new, motorcycles, cars, shifting gears, time with his family and friends, Tennessee, Tennessee football, traveling, challenges and problem-solving.
Bob was loyal, loving, smart, kind, a wonderful husband, father and friend. We're sure Jesus told him "well done you good and faithful servant" when he arrived Home. He will be missed and definitely left his mark on this earth, forever cherished by those that knew him. We look forward to seeing him one day when we make it Home as well. I'm sure we'll be amazed at the contributions and creations he makes in Heaven.
