Jane Roth Cusick, age 88, of Leeds, died June 20, 2024 of complications from heart disease. Funeral Mass will be Wednesday, June 26 at 10 a.m. at St. Theresa Catholic Church, 1750 Ashville Road, Leeds, preceded by visitation at 9 a.m. at the church. Burial following at Forest Crest Cemetery, 5730 Hwy 78 East, Birmingham.
Preceded in death by husband, Edward Francis Cusick, Jr.; parents, Roy J. Roth and Maryette Richardson Roth; siblings Flora M. Roth, Donald S. Roth, Elizabeth A. Roth, Sister Helen Louise Roth, Thomas J. Roth.
Survived by children Mary Katherine Cusick Hay (John) of Boulder, Colo., Edward Francis Cusick III of Denver, Colo., Kathleen Louise Cusick Blackburn of Athens, Ga., Daniel Roy Cusick (Sarah) of Minneapolis, Minn., Patricia MacDonald Cusick Ellis (Chris) of Leeds, and grandchildren, Sean Francis Morgan, Elise Caroline Morgan, Hannah Sara Morgan, Helen Jane Cusick, Andrew Daniel Cusick, John Alexander Cusick and Lola Jane Ellis.
Mrs. Cusick was born June 25, 1935 in Minneapolis. She graduated from Mound High School in Mound, Minn., and attended the University of Colorado and the University of Minnesota. She was a flight attendant for Northwest Airlines from 1957 to 1961, based in Seattle. She was married Dec. 29, 1961 in Minneapolis and relocated to the Birmingham area before settling on a family farm near Leeds where she lived out her life. After raising five children, Mrs. Cusick turned her long interest in natural health and nutrition into a career in the Birmingham health foods community, notably at Green Door Natural Foods in Mountain Brook, where she befriended many.
Mrs. Cusick and her husband were for 60 years parishioners of St. Theresa Catholic Church in Leeds. She was as a member of the Catholic Secular Franciscan Order, adhering to the teachings of St. Francis of Assisi, and the St. Theresa parish chapter of the Legion of Mary dedicated to visitation to the poor, sick and infirmed.
