James Jerry Woods

James Jerry Woods 78, of Irondale Al passed away suddenly on Thursday, April 27, 2023. James was born in Lineville, Al on October 31, 1944 and was preceded in death by his Father James Jake Woods and Mother Margaret Bradford Earles.

James graduated from Lineville High School where he played football, then became a member of the Army National Guard and went on to retire from the Birmingham Transit Authority.

James is survived by his wife of 53 years, Brenda Taylor Woods, his Daughter Lory Ferrell and Daughter Jamie Fridy, her husband Ben Fridy. His Son Jeremy Woods, his wife Caroline Woods and Son Terrell Woods, his wife Gail Griffith and

his 7 beloved Grandchildren Taylor Ferrell, Noah Ferrell, Jacob Woods, Rebecca Woods, Zachary Woods, Raymond Woods and Ryan Woods.

James was a long time member of First Baptist Irondale, where he served as a Deacon in the church, in the eighties and nineties.

James loved his family, his grandchildren were his greatest joy. He was an avid fisherman and loved Lake Martin and shared that love with his 4 children. He also found great joy in seeing his children play in sports and participate in band.

He took great pride in seeing his grandchildren also participate in sports, band and enjoy Lake Martin as well.

James loved Alabama Football and teasing his Auburn Fan Children.

The family will have a private memorial to celebrate his life at a later date.
