Jackson Wade Riddle died peacefully Tuesday, May 22, 2018 surrounded by loving caregivers at Hanceville Nursing Home in Hanceville, Alabama. He is preceded in death by his beloved wife of 66 years, Fannie Lou Clements Riddle, his parents, Ervin Jackson and Bertha Lee Peoples Riddle, and his brother, Joseph Gideon Riddle. He is survived by his son, Larry Wade (Teresa) Riddle of Pelham, AL , his daughter, Teresa Lynne (Ed) Huddleston of Cullman, AL, his brother, Ruble Rex (Susan) Riddle of Madison, AL, his sisters Frances Augusta Riddle Cassenta of Springville,AL and Amelia Ann Riddle Burton of Odenville, AL, six grandchildren Brian (Robin) Riddle, Matthew (Madi) Huddleston, Robert Huddleston, Reid Huddleston, Walker Huddleston and Cailynne Huddleston, four great grandchildren and a host of cousins, nephews, and nieces.
Mr. Riddle was a United States Navy Korean War veteran. He was a gunnersmate on the naval destroyer, USS McKean, earned Expert Rifleman awards, and served as an MP while in port. He retired from over 40 years with the Milbrook/Flowers Baking Company in Birmingham, AL. He was a member of Low Gap Methodist Church in Odenville, AL. He has been a strong patriarch in the Riddle family and was known for his love for his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, his sense of humor, his dramatic story-telling, his hard work ethic, and his generosity. He was proud of his family and children especially brought a broad smile to his face. At every family gathering, as spokesperson, he reminded family members that to know Jesus was to ensure that the family would be together in Eternity.
The family is grateful to the staff of Southern Care Hospice and Hanceville Nursing & Rehab for their loving support during this time.
Visitation is scheduled 10:00 a.m. until 12:00 noon Friday, May 25, 2018, at Kilgroe Funeral Home in Leeds, Alabama. A graveside service will be at 1:00 p.m. at Low Gap Cemetery in Odenville, Alabama.
