Imogene Bray

Imogene Bray, age 89, of Leeds, AL, died August 13, 2022 at UAB Highlands Hospital. Born Barbara Imogene Gist on April 19, 1933 in Bonifay, FL. Wife of 63 years to the late Robert Bray; she had resided in Leeds, AL for 58 years. She is survived by her daughters: Ann DeBellis (Tony) and Robin McCrackin (Frank), 5 grandchildren: Claire Meads (Jon), Anna Leigh DeBellis, Daniel McCrackin, Ryan McCrackin, and Jonathan McCrackin, and two great-grandchildren: Lydia Meads and Wade Meads.

Imogene worked for Amsouth Bank for 26 years, was an award winning gardener, avid reader and active member of the Cahaba Valley Garden Club. She was a founding member of the Leeds Historical Society and on the committee for the Rowan House restoration. She was also a longtime member of First Baptist Leeds where she taught Sunday school, sang in the church choir and assisted with office bookkeeping. But above all, Imogene was the most wonderful “Gigi” to her grandchildren.

Services will be held at Kilgroe Funeral Home in Leeds, AL on Wednesday, August 17, 2022. Visitation will be held for family from 12:00-12:30 pm with public visitation to follow from 12:30-2:00 pm. The funeral service will be held at 2:00 pm, followed by burial at Forest Crest Cemetery.
