Michael, I sure do miss you!  I miss being able to call you to discuss our nation's problems and boy do we have them now! Your blood would be boiling.  You are in a much better place in the arms of our Lord and Savior! Rest In Peace my friend.

I met Michael in 2011 on a Delta connection to Atlanta.  He was on his way to Salt Lake and I on my way to Irvine, CA.  Both business travelers on a Sunday. I will tell you that I hate traveling on a Sunday and typically in an ill mood.  But this very nice and engaging man, Michael Moses, was sitting next to me.  After a very pleasant exchange, Michael gave me input on a rifle build.  When I retrieved a hunting magazine from my bag, Michael ask me if I hunt.  I responded of course, but only when invited, so I don't get to hunt as often as I would like.   He then told me they were looking for a new member at The Bucks Only Hunting Club and if I would like to come to their next work weekend to meet the members.  Realizing that in Alabama Hunt Clubs are a sacred thing, I was thrilled.  The Bucks Only Hunting Camp was a perfect fit for my son Sam and me.  We have had the best memories there and Sammy grew up before everyone's eyes.  I love all the people at this camp and they are some of the best people you will ever meet.  I owe it all to Michael Moses, whom I love dearly and will always remember him.

camp went to the NRA in Nashville Tn. My husband, Mike & I drove our motorcycle. We were all going out to dinner, but it came a flood. Mike and Maxine said you guys are going to ride with us. This was the beginning of a wonderful friendship. We shared stories and got to really know these two wonderful people! Mike my Mike sharing cigars around camp. Listening to the great adventures they had all over the world. Their Hawaii trips. Mike Moses Dear friend you are missed greatly by all of us!! We love you!! 

Uncle Mickey and Aunt Kathryn (Michael’s mom and dad) invited me to spend two weeks with them during the summer of 1954 (I could be off on the exact year). Michael was two or three years old so I would have been twelve or thirteen.  I got to 'babysit' Michael a lot during those two weeks.  He was a happy toddler, always laughing and being funny. 

I have wonderful memories of Michael and that summer visit to Opelika. As simple as it sounds, one of my favorite memories is making his breakfast. Michael really liked scrambled eggs and bacon, his way. That meant the eggs were soft scrambled, but not too soft, and the bacon had to be very crisp so it could be crumbled up and scattered over the eggs. By the end of my visit, I got pretty good at this. Michael appreciated good food prepared well, even at this early age. 

I will miss you cousin, but I look forward to seeing you in heaven.

Mike has been a distant "relative" of our family for as long as I can remember.  I say distant because distance is what separated us here in MN and Mike and Maxine in AL.  When we first met Mike he was a coworker of our dad's, but quickly turned into a cherished friend of the family.  Growing up we would see him (and Maxine) annually and as kids would look forward to hearing that accent.  Fast forward 30 years, whenever our kids would see Mike they would say y'all talk funny.  He would laugh and say no y'all talk funny.   

Mike was a true gentleman, so down to earth, and nice guy.  He shared his love of cooking and our annual 4th of July shrimp boil came to life because of his love of teaching others to cook.  

Mike, I know you are up there enjoying a cigar and adult beverage with dad:)

Happy Birthday, Mike!
Your first birthday without us, but I know you are truly with us.

I chuckle at how North (Phil & I) met South (you and Maxine).  Phil came home from a Cargill Conference 30+ years ago and told me "I met a guy from the southern salt division and we have so much in common".  As time went on I met that guy and his wife, and our friendship grew.

We had many wonderful meals, great conversations (and disagreements), fishing trips, personal vacations and just looking forward to our next time together meant so much.

Life has no boundaries.  Us meeting, memories made will never be forgotten along with love and a bond of North and South.

I met Mike Moses in 2012 when I moved into Twin Lakes, Moody Alabama.  I served with Mike on the HOA Board for the community.  Being on the Board with Mike let me see just how he cared for people and through the years I have come to appreciate the sacrifice he made to maintain Twin Lakes.  Up until the time his health became an issue he served our community and he is one of the main reasons our community still exists.  The foundation he gave us will enable Twin Lakes to flourish long into the future.  Mike was truly larger than life and he will be sorely missed.  To his wife Maxine I say thank you for sharing Mike with us and may God Bless you with the memories you have of your time with Mike.  

I'll never forget the first time I met Mike. 
Several of my police officers and I were eating lunch at Carlile's BBQ in Moody. Mike walked in the front door and saw all of the police officers sitting at a table on the right side of the restaurant. He walked over and introduced himself and said that he was new to Moody and had recently moved into Twin Lakes subdivision. 

I invided him to drag up a chair and join us which he did. Before we departed he handed me one of his Cargill business cards. I wrote "gun guy" on the back of the card as a reminder of who he was. I still have that old card. 

From that point on our friendship grew through the ensuing years to include many of my other friends. 

Such as Butch Beach, Scott Green, Dennis Russell, Woody Cutler,  Fred Moody, Joel Washington and many others.

Mike was very civic minded and served on various city committees. He and Maxine joined the Moody Lions club where they were very active for years.

Mike and I had so much in common that it was a foregone conclusion that our friendship would endure forever. For example there was a love of shooting, gun shows, the USN in which we'd both honorably served during the vietnam war, oldies 60's rock music,  a love of reading, history and many other things too numerous to mention.

Michael loved his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ and our country as  constructed by the founding fathers. Mike was very generous with his time and tallents. He was a real man's man, who would be there with you when the dust finally settled. Mike had  high moral standards and he loved his bride Maxine to the exclusion of all others.

Mike had an encyclopedic knowledge in many fields and kept the most meticlious records and paid attention to the finest of details. Mike was of the opinion of "that he devil was in the details. 

If Edward Michael Moses told you something, you could count on it as if it had been brought down from the mountain top by his name sake Moses.

Mike was truly a great salesman, but he was an even better person.   I have fond memories of the numerous sales calls and meetings we attended.  I have even fonder memories of the fishing trips in South LA and in AL  either out in the Gulf or in the lake at his home.  Spending time with Mike was also educational for me as his vast knowledge of handguns and long rifles  made him a mentor to me as my knowledge  was more related to shotguns.  He knew where to get great barbeque in AL and now I also know. Mike was also a great driver and would get us from one location to another rather quickly.  This saved me from missing flights as I would tell him I can't make the flight and he would say "yes you will" and I did.  I will conclude by simply saying,  I wish I wasn't writing this.  I will miss you MIKE!!!

Thank you for being one of the best salesman Cargill had.   But most of all thank you for being my friend.  Thru the years you have always been a gentle soul so filled with wisdom.  In my times of need I could always count on your wisdom and gentle warm smile.   You have been taken way too soon.  You will be missed but we are glad you are in a better place without pain reunited with family and friends

Michael was a mountain of a man. A gentle giant . He loved his fishing and his hunting, but he loved Maxine the most. I will always remember his smile, the volume of fishing tackle he took with him in the boat, and his stories. He took his time in foot but never when he was behind the wheel. He was one of the great ones and will be missed by all of us.

Thanks for the memories Michael.  I have a lot of good memories from the many years we worked together but the greatest memories are from the friendship we shared outside of work. A friendship that included more than just ourselves. One that included spending time together with our wives enjoying a good meal and good conversation.  I especially enjoyed our fishing trips.  I’ll never forget catching those big Reds in the marsh by Golden Meadow, LA.  My tackle box is full of memories from our Canadian fishing trip.  And yes, it is also still full of tackle that you outfitted me with for the trip.  We were prepared!

In my life I have met very few men as caring, kind, and open as Mike Moses. He always had time to talk with or help a neighbor no matter if they were an adult or child. I remember when my 9 and 11 year old boys came home one day all excited about the 'secrets' Mr. Mike had shared with them about the lakes and how to catch the most fish! He made them feel so important! I never encountered Mike that he did not have an encouraging  word, or shared a kind act. Mike will be truly missed by his friends, family, and community. See you soon brother.

I remember when I first met Mike at a neighborhood board meeting.   I only went to address the board and wasn’t very happy. 

Mike won me over.  He was caring and protective.  I joined the board after that meeting.  We served many years together.

Over the years, we became good friends and spoke of hunting, fishing, home improvement and so many other things.  
He was always very entertaining.

I remember when he tried to get me to help him scoop up the rotting fish on the bank and I couldn’t even get close.  I yelled to him that it looked like he had it under control.  I have a lot of wonderful memories of him and cherish them.

I know he is with our Heavenly Father now, but he will be greatly missed.

Next time we meet, unlike the first, it will be a joyful meeting.

Mike was my husband, Phil’s cousin. For 25 years we made two trips to Mike and Maxine’s home to go to the Talladega NASCAR race every year. We have so many happy memories of those trips. Mike always grilled huge steaks for dinner and we enjoyed patio time. Mike was like a brother to Phil as Phil was an only child.   Mike and Phil went fishing while Maxine and I went shopping. Phil was born in Alabama so he and Mike were big Auburn fans. Phil passed away two years ago but Maxine and I know they are in heaven watching over us and fishing. Treasure every moment you have. 

How to begin. It is not very often in life you get to meet someone through your work, that makes such a big impact on your life. I had changed to a new position, and it so happened that the commodity that was giving me the most problem would be salt. Thank goodness! Because this is how I first met Mike. He was my knight in shining armor that always came through and made all of my problems seem trivial. He pulled me out of many a scrape, and made my transition sooo much better! For that I will be forever grateful. We had many years working together as a great team… and in the process, my husband Scott ,and I, met your beautiful wife Maxine. I was furiously working towards retirement, and looking forward to being able to travel and visit with you both. There seems to never be enough time, and I regret not making more memories with you both.  So thankful for the memories we have, and so glad we took a few pictures along the way, something I am terrible at doing.  Fish on, my friend, and we will see you on the other shore. You are surely missed by so many people that you have been such a great friend to. Me for one working together and so many great trips. Puerto Rico was I think my favorite. The time we hunted together shared so many stories about how many birds we shot and the recipes we tried, fishing and your amazing knowledge of guns and learning about how they were made with the history to back it up!
I always will be thankful for the good whiskey, cigars and the friendship we have. Until our paths cross again, God Bless YOU Michael Moses 

How do you sum over 40 years.  I have at times regretted putting your date into the back seat and taking the front with you.  But in total. We had a great adventure together. I look forward to seeing you again. Thank you for always allowing me the first cast when we were fishing.  I will always remind you of losing my big one with those Boga Grips !  Love forever. Edward Michael Moses, or Uncle Mike as my brother and I knew him, was a quick-witted southern man of principle with a deep heart, and I am thankful that he was a part of our lives. In a world of eroding values and warping foundations, he passed on to my bother and I many of the important values that made us the men we are today. I will forever carry all I can of him in my heart and hope to one day pass on his influence and memory to my own children. I love you tremendously Uncles Mike,  I hope one day we are together again one day in heaven. 


Mike was more than a man to me.  It doesn't seem real that such a larger than life character has left the stage. I have known Michael since my earliest memories. I have no memory of a "first time we met" because Micheal was always there. I learned so much from you Mike, you taught me more than you ever knew. 
My memories with Michael are among my fondest from my time as a boy to my time as a man and our many late nite talks. Though I'm happy Mike suffers no longer, I cannot but selfishly wish him still here. With Mike's passing creates a void to never be filled in my mortal life. It is with the heaviest heart I say goodbye to you, but forever you shall live on in my heart and memories.

Mike, you were more than a brother in law to me.You were the brother I never had and my dear friend.We shared good times and bad times together, as close friends should, and it was a blessing to have had you in my life. I know you were not afraid in those last days, because you knew your journey was not over, but beginning a new life with the Lord. I am sure He held your hand and led you to your new and everlasting home with Him. I will miss you greatly,but only until I see you again. I love you, my Brother.

I have so many things to be thankful for. At the top of the list is being blessed with the best big brother and best friend I could ever have wished for.  God is good ❤️    We shared so much love, and wonderful, and fun life experiences together. You were such an amazing person. A mentor and role model for me, as well as for so many people. Especially for my sons. Your nephews, who adored you so. You taught them so many valuable life lessons. You are truly one of the blessings in our lives, that God gifted us. A unique and special gift to all who knew you.
Although we miss you so very very much, and my heart aches that you are not here  with us. I take comfort in knowing that you are at peace, and home with our Heavenly Father. Rejoicing with loved ones and friends who have gone before. I take comfort in knowing that I will someday, be with you again. I will always be grateful that I got to have you in my life……
