Cynthia Inez Posey

Inez East Posey, age 92, of Birmingham, Alabama found rest in the arms of Jesus on July 30, 2016 while surrounded by her loving family. She was born in Birmingham on September 21, 1923. She is survived by her son James T. Posey (Karen), and daughter Susan Posey Spry (Dell), four grandchildren, five great-grandchildren, and a number of nieces and nephews whom she loved greatly and who loved her in return.

She worked in the office at Minnie Holman Elementary School, Burger-Phillips Department Store as a bookkeeper, and at the Irondale K-Mart for 20 years in the pharmacy department, retiring in 1988.

She was a devout Christian, baptized at Tenth Avenue Baptist Church where she remained a member until 1951 when she joined Fiftieth Street Baptist Church. In 1976 she joined Crestway Baptist Church remaining a member until her passing. During all of those years she served Jesus singing in the choir and teaching preschool children in Sunday School and Vacation Bible School. She is missed greatly and shall remain so until we all get to Heaven.

The family will receive friends at 1 pm, Wednesday, August 3, 2016 at Kilgroe Funeral Home in Leeds, AL with a Celebration Service to follow at 2pm. Burial to follow at Cedar Grove Cemetery with Rev. Jimmy Wilson, pastor of Crestway Baptist Church, officiating.

Pallbearers are Ben Posey, Steven Spry, Dan Hutler, Robert McCulley, Mark Perry, and Scott Posey.
