Clay Allen Bishop, Sr., 76, of Leeds, Alabama, passed away on Wednesday, July 27, 2016. Clay was a 1963 graduate of the University of Alabama and served for 17 years in the U.S. Army, 15 of which were with the U.S. Army Reserves. Clay worked for most of his career as a mechanical engineer in the paper industry. Clay served others throughout his life, serving faithfully for many years in prison ministry and in his church, Leeds First Baptist Church.
Clay was preceded in death by his parents, Roy C. Bishop and Berta Bishop, of Tuscaloosa, and an infant daughter, Tera Adell Bishop. He is survived by his wife of 56 years, Patricia Harman Bishop, of Leeds, a son, Clay Allen Bishop, Jr. (Donna), of Demopolis, a daughter, Patti Wilborn (Danny), and two granddaughters, Elizabeth Adell and Emily Clay Wilborn, of Gadsden. A visitation will be held from
10 a.m. – 11 a.m. on Saturday, July 30, at Leeds First Baptist Church, followed by a funeral service at 11:00 a.m. Interment will follow at Memorial Gardens in Tuscaloosa, Alabama.
