Chad loved God with all of his heart. He led his family by example and showed them what it meant to love and serve the Lord. He made sure church was a priority and that God got the credit for everything good in life.
Chad loved serving his community. He always wanted to make sure he did his part to better the place that he and his family lived. One of his greatest joys was coaching metro league teams and teaching players the fundamentals and discipline of sports. “Coach Chad”, as he is lovingly known by many, helped many children advance in the arena of sports and learn what it meant to play with heart and excellence. Chad was also an avid Alabama fan. His favorite Saturday activity was gathering with friends and family to “watch the Tide roll”.
He is preceded in death by his brother, Brandon Jack Dorsett; grandfather, Jack Martin; and two grandbabies.
He is survived by his wife of 25 years, Sherry Posey Dorsett; his 3 sons, Drake (Taylor) Dorsett, Garrett (Katlyn) Dorsett, and Cole Dorsett; his “adopted daughter” Grace Johnson; parents, Pee Wee and Rhonda Dorsett; siblings, Blake (Crystal) Dorsett, Kyle (Holli) Dorsett, and Celia (Terry) Killough; grandmothers, June Martin and Joyce Smith; second parents, Jimmie and Vernon Barber; many nieces and nephews and numerous special friends, colleagues, and a loving community and church family.
The family will receive friends and family on Thursday, June 2nd, 2022, from 12PM to 2PM at The Healing Place Church in Trussville, AL with celebration of Chad’s life to follow at 2PM. Burial will follow at Cumberland Presbyterian Cemetery in Branchville, AL.
