Born 10/21/1943 to Grady "Burnis" and Willetta Dudley, went home to be with the Lord Monday, February 13, 2023 after promising faithfully to be waiting on the other side for his wife, Penny, who he always said he had been waiting for all of his life. When he married Penny he welcomed her children into his life and they became his children who have been blessed to have this kind and good man as a role model daily, be example, of what a husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather should be.
Leon had a lifelong love affair with Deviled Eggs, Little Debbies, Peanuts and Coca-Cola. Of course his favorite words were Nascar and Roll Tide.
Leon was preceded in death by his parents, Burnis and Willetta, and his sister Judy.
Leon is survived by his wife, Penny, three sons, one daughter, and two daughter-in-law. Allen Ray Stotts (Lana) of Kansas, Todd Allen Stotts of Arkansas, Scott Allen (Amy) of Alabama and Nicoma Michelle North of Alabama; Several grandchildren, several great-grandchildren and one sister, Betty Jean Hardy of Alabama, whom he idolized. He also leaves many family members and friends who will sadly miss him as Leon's love and patience ran deep and his "extended family" is vast.
The family would like to thank Oasis Hospice in Trussville for helping him to die in the comfort of his home in Birmingham with dignity and grace. A special thank you to Robyn Shelton, his nurse, who patiently comforted his family.
A memorial service will be held at a later date.
