Sydney Derek Phillips

The family of Sydney Phillips is saddened to announce his passing on November 23rd, 2021 at home in Beaumont, Alberta at the age of 89 years.

Loving father to his cherished daughter Susan, and his son-in-law Richard, and beloved “Papa” to his grandchildren Justin (Mikayla), and Kayla (Shane). He will also be dearly missed by friends in Ottawa and family in the United Kingdom.

Sydney was born in England, and moved to Canada as a young adult where he spent many years living in Ottawa, Ontario. He moved to Beaumont, Alberta in 2012 to be close to his family. He spent his days enjoying nature, fishing, woodworking, and going out for meals. He loved animals, and taking trips out to Four Seasons Park to look at the lake. Syd will be remembered for his quick wit, his great sense of humor as well as his ability to brighten anyone’s day. He had a heart of gold, and loved his family so deeply.

A private celebration of life will be held by his family at a later date. Memorial donations may be made in Sydney’s name to the Alberta SPCA (17904 118 Ave. NW Edmonton, AB T5S 2W3).
