Ken was born in Athabasca, Alberta on October 21,1952, and passed on April 4, 2025 in Edmonton. He loved people and loved to talk and laugh.
Ken’s early years were spent in Calgary and Grassland. He grew up on a farm, and in his younger years he took Shumka dancing, played baseball and billeted with a family during the week to go to school.
Ken attended NAIT in a two year business admin program. He met his wife Barb in 1971, they married in 1975 and would have celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary this upcoming November. His children, Pam and Jeff, provided him with great joy and pride. He developed skills in many sports that he had never played to coach or support his kids; he became a competitive swimming timer, a hockey coach, a football coach, and a soccer coach.
Ken worked in Electrical Wholesale, co-owned a business, and ended his career at Pyramid Corporation. He retired in 2016.
In retirement, Ken golfed as often as he could, curled, and volunteered for everything under the sun.
Ken and Barb are grandparents to three grandchildren: Carson, age 10, Bea, age 9, and Jude, age 6. He was the greatest, most doting grandpa, and self-proclaimed World Champion of UNO, Chutes and Ladders, and Monopoly.
He and Barb travelled to many parts of the world. They shared two last amazing trips, spending Christmas in Mexico with his children and grandchildren, and then two weeks in Huatulco three weeks before his surgery.
He is survived by his wife Barb; daughter Pamela (Daniel) and son Jeffrey; three wonderful grandchildren: Carson, Bea, and Jude; sister Joan; numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, in-laws and too many friends to count.
Ken was predeceased by his parents, Orest and Mary; and his brothers Alan and David.
He will be missed so greatly. His love of life, generosity, kindness and willingness to help others will live on in the members of his family.
