(June 5th, 1965 - November 15th, 2016)
With overwhelming sadness we announce that at 51 years old, we lost a mother, wife, friend and the most important person in our world. Heather will forever be held in the hearts and souls of those who she loved unconditionally; her husband Stuart Hawthorne of 29 years, son’s Justin (Emma) and Jordan, father Glen Trimble, sister Joanne Pennington (Wayne) with her beloved niece and nephews Brett, Jenna and Devon, mother-in-law Loretta Hawthorne and sister-in-law Dawn Simpson, and nephews Tyler, Tate and Cole whom she loved dearly. Heather is predeceased by her mother Ann Trimble, and father-in-law Verne Hawthorne.
Heather Hawthorne (nee Trimble) grew up on the family farm south of Leduc with her parents Glen and Ann Trimble and her sister Joanne. Her younger years were spent playing with and caring for the farm cats and reading. Her love of caring for others and lifelong learning were set from then on. She met her husband Stu at the age of 14 and they’ve been hopelessly in love ever since. As a young adult Heather was encouraged to pursue a university education, but in her words all she wanted was to “marry Stu, have kids and live happily ever after” - And she did just that! Heather and Stuart Hawthorne were married on July 4th, 1987. They have shared a world of experiences together. The pride of Heather’s life is her two boys Justin and Jordan.
Heather’s career path was anything but traditional however every job she had or title she held was one that involved – teaching, loving and caring (and of course organizing). From playground supervisor (Town of Leduc) to Special Needs Assistant (Willow Park Elementary School) to Recreation Coordinator (Planeview Manor) to Volunteer Coordinator (Leduc Strathcona Health Unit) to Homeopath to Homeschool mentor to Mom - she did it all with a passion to be envied. Aside from her formal jobs Heather has dedicated her life to volunteering in whatever capacity she was currently passionate about. She was a key player in developing many still running programs in Leduc’s volunteer community. Tying so well into her passion for health and education, she founded and ran a support and development group for local pre-teen girls – I Am Girls. And only months before her diagnosis she started to volunteer with Big Brothers, Big Sisters tutoring children in school who needed some extra help.
In 2004 Heather obtained diplomas in homeopathy from the British Institute of homeopathy and from there developed a thriving part time homeopathic practice. She touched the lives of so many with her healing ways.
In Heather’s world life wasn’t complete without many furry friends. MacGyver, Alf and Taco passed before her and Shadow, Blackie, Sparkie and Tundra are going to miss her as much as we all do.
All too soon and following a 15 month journey with lymphoma Heather passed on November 15, 2016.
We will be holding a service celebrating her life at Ebenezer Christian Reformed Church [49245 Rge Rd 250 - Leduc AB] on Wednesday November 23rd at 2 pm.
In lieu of flowers donations can be made to the Cross Cancer Institute where she was cared for so dearly or by donating blood to Canadian Blood Services. Arrangements entrusted to HAINSTOCK & SON FUNERAL CHAPEL, Leduc.
