Dennis was born in Edmonton, Alberta on December 21, 1953, to Fred and Ida Morawski. Dennis spent his childhood in Edmonton before moving to a farm just south of Leduc, Alberta, where he spent the remainder of his life. Dennis was a master electrician, having spent over 40 years in the industry in a variety of roles, the last 23 of which were in the capacity as an electrical consultant for Stantec. He was well known for working on some of the largest projects in Alberta, including the Ponoka General Hospital, major upgrades at the University of Alberta and the Royal Alexandra Hospitals, the Mazankowski Heart Institute and the construction of the Edmonton Ice District. Dennis was also well known for calling bingo in Leduc for over 30 years and remained active with the Rapid Bingo Association for many years thereafter, including serving on their board of directors.
Dennis was foremost a man of principle and wasn’t known for backing down. He was fond of the past but appreciated innovation. Dennis was charitable, spending much of his spare time supporting local schools and charities, including the Lions Breakfast Club and Leduc West Antique Society. Dennis enjoyed a variety of music, but his favourite was Ian Tyson. At heart, though, Dennis was an inventor. He loved starting projects and had started a great many, had countless more in his head (thanks to YouTube!), but finishing those projects was a lower priority. When Dennis wasn’t starting projects on the farm, you would find him on the back of one of his numerous motorcycles. One of his proudest achievements was having ridden through every province and territory in Canada (except Nunavut), every state in the U.S.A. (except Wisconsin, Nebraska, Kansas and Hawaii) and a good portion of Mexico.
Dennis is survived by his high school sweetheart and wife of 48 years, Anita; son, Trevor (Lori); daughter, Nadine; sisters: Beverly and Arlene; brothers: Rick and Darrell; as well as many, many friends and possibly a few enemies (as noted above he was a man of strong principle).
Details on a celebration of life for Dennis to follow. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Heart and Stroke Foundation of Canada (https://www.heartandstroke.ca).
