

Roy E. “Rocket” Rager, 65, of Lebanon, PA, died Wednesday, September 7, 2011 in the Good Samaritan Hospital. He was the husband of JoAnn V. Wenzler Rager. They would have celebrated 40 years of marriage later this month. He was born June 13, 1946 in Lebanon, a son of Ethel Euston Rager of Lebanon and the late Raymond Rager. He was employed for 27 years at Cleaver Brooks and was currently employed for the last 12 years at Harrisburg Area Community College of Lebanon. Roy served in the US Army during the Vietnam War where he was recipient of the Purple Heart. He served a coach of the Myerstown Panthers Midget Football Team for 40 years. He was a member of the Lebanon VFW, Post 23; Lebanon American Legion and the Friendship Fire Company. In 2006, Roy was inducted in the Central Chapter of Pennsylvania Sports Hall of Fame, “John Sollenberger Award” for Meritorious Service and the Lebanon Valley Sports Hall of Fame, for Outstanding Achievement and Contribution in our area for Midget Football. Surviving in addition to his wife and mother are children, Dawn E. wife of Ken Schauer of MD; Sandra J. wife of Paul Martz of Lemoyne; Eric Roy husband of Jennifer Rager of NJ; granddaughter, Margaret Haag; brother, William husband of JoAnn Rager of Myerstown; sisters, Lorraine Finnegan and Marion wife of Ronald Sabo both of DE. Funeral service will be held on Tuesday, September 13th at 10:00 AM in Rohland Funeral Home, 508 Cumberland St., Lebanon, PA. Viewing will be on Monday from 6:00 PM to 9:00 PM and Tuesday from 9:00 AM until time of service at the funeral home. Interment will be made in the Indiantown Gap National Cemetery.
