Robert Charles McCullough III, a man of faith, service, and enduring love, passed away peacefully at the age of 81. Born in Lebanon, PA, Robert’s life was a testament to hard work, dedication, and a spirit that brought joy to all who knew him.
A stellar student, Robert excelled academically. His high school years were marked by an impressive array of achievements: he was a member of the oratory team, Latin Club, and football team; voted “Class Clown” for his humor and charm; and was a talented tenor in school and church.
Following high school, Robert proudly served in the United States Navy, where he exemplified dedication, discipline, and a commitment to his country. After his service, he earned a Bachelor of Science in Psychology at the University of Maryland.
After college, Robert began a distinguished career in the pharmaceutical industry. Starting as a sales representative for Winthrop Pharmaceuticals, he visited doctors across the Eastern Shore of Delaware and Maryland. Over time, his dedication and expertise propelled him to become the Vice President of U.S. Sales for Sanofi Synthélabo, which was based in Paris, France. His leadership and professionalism left a lasting impact on the industry and those he worked with.
After the passing of his wife, Sharon Annette (Young) McCullough, in 2005, Robert moved to Mt. Gretna, PA, where he formed a special friendship with Joyce Ebright. Joyce and her family became an integral part of his life, providing companionship and creating cherished memories in his later years.
Robert was deeply involved in his church and community, dedicating his time to charitable causes and embodying a spirit of kindness and generosity. He found joy in golf, travel, and, above all, spending time with his family.
Robert was preceded in death by his wife, Sharon McCullough with whom he shared 40 years of marriage before her battle with cancer took her too soon.
He is survived by his brother, Jeffrey McCullough of Overland Park, Kansas with whom he shared a close bond, and his two daughters, Amy (McCullough) Cohn of Towson, Maryland and Shane (McCullough)Lauler of Voorhees, New Jersey. His son-in laws, Peter Cohn and Daniel Lauler and his grandson, Patrick Lauler. They will forever hold dear the wisdom, laughter, and unconditional love he gave.
Robert will be remembered for his steadfast faith, generous spirit, and the legacy of love and kindness he leaves behind.
A celebration of Robert’s life will be held at a later date, most likely in March 2025.
