Robert Eby Kreider, 87, died Saturday, April 13, in Lebanon Valley Brethern Home, Palmyra. He was the husband of the late Lois Moyer Kreider, and the son of the late Franklin W and Effie D Kreider. Robert gradated in 1943 from Lebanon High School.
Robert was a veteran with the 1st Marine Division serving in the Pacific during WWll, where he was awarded the Silver Star and two Purple Hearts. These were awarded for action on the Ryukyu Island, Okinawa. Bob is a quiet hero.
He then became a dairy farmer for 45 years on a beautiful historical farm on 322 at Quentin and was a lifetime member of the FFA before he retired in 1991. He was a member of Tabor United Church of Christ where he served on the council and in the choir. He helped in many ways to better the church. He welcomed day to day adventures, helping others, enjoying family, friends and life in general.
He is survived by a daughter, Janet Wentsler and husband Guy, Lebanon; daughter-in-law Marilyn Kanalos and husband Casey, Lebanon. Bob was blessed with five grandsons, Brad Kreider and wife, Elizabeth, Bethel; Alan Kreider and wife Cynthia, Lebanon; Dean Kreider and wife Amber, Lebanon; Daniel Wentsler and fiance Kym Lebo, Lebanon; and Ryan Wentsler, Lebanon; also six beautiful great-grandchildren; Macy, Madison, Kyle, Caleb, Meghan and Blake; all “Kreiders”; sister Christine Schott, Lebanon and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his son Douglas Kreider and brother Carl Kreider.
Viewings will be held Tuesday 6-8 PM, and Wednesday 9-10 AM, and service Wednesday 10 AM at the Rohland Funeral Home, 508 Cumberland St., Lebanon. Interment will be in Quentin Cemetery. Donations may be made to Tabor UCC, Lebanon.
