20 years ago we held each other for the last time even though on August 2, 1964, we made the ultimate Promise to “Take care of each other” for life had other plans. We were told the journey that we were partaking had come upon a fork in the road thus forcing us to venture on separate paths. Never have I forgotten all the memories (my heart so treasures) whether they were good or bad that we had made/shared on this crazy journey, but often found myself pondering about the one’s we were robbed of yet to be…
My life began on September 18, 1946 to the parents of the late James H. Zellers (Dauphin County) and the late Beulah A. Rott (N . Annville Twp.). While my life growing up wasn’t always easy, my parents taught me the “Values” of what I had. I learned to be a tough cookie (which helped later in life) playing at the Avon Playground with my girlfriends or playing baseball with the boys. One summer this bad boy/tough guy came around and that’s when Larry G. Lackey, Sr. stole my heart. In the 41 short years we were together, Larry taught me how to cope, learn, master and conquer lives toughest challenges.
Larry even though you’ve missed the past 20 years I think you’d be proud of our 3 children that we have made, molded, cherished…
Linda L. Barrett, wife of James P. Barrett of Dillsburg
Larry G. Lackey, Jr. of Palmyra
Sharon A Moyer wife of Gary L. Moyer of SC
Larry my Toad and I’m your Toadeth – You’ve been smiling down upon our 4 Grand babies (I’m sure shaking your head at times)…
Lauren A Rodes, wife of Nathan Rodes of York
Corbin J. Barrett of Dillsburg
Kayla JF Johnson, wife of Todd Johnson of SC
Kyristen E. Osburn, wife of Justin Osburn of Hershey
Although we’ve never had the pleasure of meeting all of our great-grand babies…
Violet Mae (Lauren and Nathan Rodes)
Vivienne S & Hendrix E. (Kayla and Todd Johnson)
One day down the road our paths will cross.
I’d like to say my life was very fulfilling since my passions were art, gardening, canning, baking, riding my bike. Remember all the Sunday’s we spent driving around or hiking with the kids. The trips we’d take to our favorite spot, Cape May. We made many friends along the way from my times at Pennfield Chicken, Textile Mill, Zayres, Ames, Wal-Mart. When you had to leave I learned how to live on my own, buy a car, take care of myself, that was the hardest part because no matter the obstacle you always put me first! They say every family has that “Glue that holds us together”, Larry, you were “The Glue”, you’ll never know just how much you held the families together. I Love You, thank you for being my best friend, husband, provider, Father to our kids. My time has come to an end, my 79 years has me tired, but most of all missing you. Although my parents, late brother James “Butch” Zellers has been gone for sometime now, the kids were always there to help in your absence, but it’s my time. Larry my Toad your Toadette is finally by your side again. We can finally finish our journey…
