John “Jack” E. McHenry Jr. died September 29, 2014. He was the husband of Bonnie Miller McHenry. He was born September 23, 1923 in Clifton, New Jersey; son of the late John E. McHenry and Jean Mae Neal McHenry. John was a U.S. Army Veteran having served in the Mediterranean Theatre of Operations from April 1943 to June 1946 during WWII. He was a graduate of Springfield College in Massachusetts with a M.ED degree in Guidance and Personal Services. . He was the former Executive Director of Holiday Hills YMCA in Pawling New York. He previously was the Executive Director of the Reading and Berks County YMCA of Pennsylvania. He was a director of the YMCA Brandywine Branch in Wilmington and New Castle County, Delaware. He was the Principal and Director of Guidance at the Greer School in Verbank, New York. He served as a member of the Mid-Atlantic Region YMCA Board of Directors and the YMCA Public Relations Group. He was a recipient of the Rotary Paul Harris Fellow award and was President of the Pawling Rotary Club. In addition to his wife he is survived his children: Jack McHenry III (Kelley) Seattle, Washington, Thomas McHenry (Betty), Corpus Christi, Texas; Susan McHenry, Millville, New Jersey; Heather Stricker (Scott), Myerstown, Pennsylvania; Robert Polley (Kimberly)Gloucester, Virginia and Heidi Piper (Eric), Robesonia, Pennsylvania. There are eight grandchildren and one great-grandchild. Services will be private. Private interment will be at the Indiantown Gap National Cemetery, Annville, Pennsylvania.
