Thursday, March 12, 2015 in the Lebanon Good Samaritan Hospital. He was born on May 25, 1934, son of the late Edward Kovac II and the late Elizabeth Hornacek Kovac. He graduated from Central High School and began his career with the U.S. Navy Serving as an interior communications specialist. Following his military service he worked for the Obrana Press and Haddon Craftsman until joining The Times as a printer/compositor. Former Vice-President of the Lackawanna Bicycle Club and chairman of the Pocono Century Bike Tour Committee, Ed also worked in conjunction with the Steamtown Biathlon Committee. He was a member of the National Ski Patrol, stationed at Montage, a former trustee of the Elmhurst Presbyterian Church and a former Boy Scout leader and Biddy Basketball coach. He and his wife Beverly were married for 57 years and had retired to Cornwall Manor, Cornwall, PA in 2013. Graveside services will be held on Friday, March 20, 2015 at 12:30 PM at the Indiantown Gap National Cemetery, Annville, PA with Chaplain Glen Esler presiding. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions in Ed’s name may be made to the Cornwall Manor Benevolent Fund, P.O. Box 125, Cornwall, PA 17016. The Rohland Funeral Home is handling the arrangements.
