Dave passed on January 4th surrounded by his loving family, who will continue to honor his legacy by living their lives to the fullest. He was the husband of Kathy (Bennethum) Lear with whom he shared 37 years of marriage.
Dave was born in Lebanon, son of William Lear, Sr., and Margaret P. (Rothgaber) Lear. He graduated from Lebanon High School and after graduation enlisted in the National Guard Unit as a military police officer. He studied Criminal Justice at HACC.
In 1989, he was offered the career he had always dreamed of, a Law Enforcement Officer. He proudly served the community of Lebanon with pride and dignity for over 30 years. He was a Field Training Officer, Detective, DARE Officer, and held the rank of Private First Class.
Dave loved being with family and friends and always had a story to tell. He loved to go on vacations with family, ride his Harley, and was most proud of his children and grandchildren.
He is survived by his wife Kathy, daughter Brittany Pedrick (wife of Brian), son Keith Lear, his two grandchildren Chase and Cole Pedrick, his brothers Michael, John (Anne), William, Jr., (Patricia), and Timothy (Catherine), his sister Donna, and many nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his parents, sister-in-law Carol Lear, and nephew Steven Lear.
A viewing will be held on Monday, January 10th from 5:00-8:00 p.m. A second viewing will be held on Tuesday, January 11th from 10:00-11:00am with service to follow. Both the viewings and service will be held at Lebanon Free Evangelical Church, 600 Shepherd St., Jonestown, PA 17038. Following the service, a public interment burial will be held at Mount Annville Cemetery, Annville.
