Sandra Lynn Tyler, age 79, of Liberty Hill, Texas passed away in the comfort of her home on Monday, March 24, 2025. Sandra was born on October 15, 1945 to Marie and Edward Koenning in Shiner, TX. Sandra was the last of ten children born to the Koennings; it was a big family.
Shiner High School was a breeze for Sandra, she was a very smart girl with a great sense of humor. She excelled at everything she did. In April of 1962, Sandra received the coveted Facit Accuracy Contest Medal for her Typing Skills. Athletically, Sandra was an outstanding student athlete who was named to several all district teams and was a basketball team captain. Sandra also played tennis, volleyball, and if Shiner would have had snow, she would have been on the ski team. She was even voted most athletic by her classmates. Academically, Sandra was in the National Honor Society, Student Council, and the Band. As a senior, she was a football sweetheart nominee, a cheerleader, and most notably, the Salutatorian of the Senior Class. After graduation in 1964, Sandra attended the University of Texas Nursing School and was the Student Nurses Association president.
Sandra was a dedicated mother and wife who excelled in her career as a regional VP for a healthcare firm. Before her career in EDS and Birch & Davis, she was a nurse in Austin, TX. Sandra was always very proud of her nursing background. Sandra was most proud of her family. She was extremely devoted to her entire family and talked about them often to anyone who would listen.
Sandra is preceded in death by her husband Monroe Tyler (73) and step-son Clint Tyler (50). Sandra is survived by her son Monroe Wilson Tyler Jr, his wife (daughter-in-law) Laura Lanette Tyler, and their son (grandson) Mason Dakota Tyler (25); all of whom reside in Giddings, TX. She is also survived by her son Spencer James Tyler, his wife (daughter-in-law) Sebastiana Luisa Tyler, and three daughters (grand daughters) Eva Lynn Tyler (11), Johnna Leeson Tyler (7), and Sandra Monroe Tyler (2 months), all of whom reside in LIberty Hill, TX. Sandra is also survived by her best friend Linda Openshaw of Liberty Hill.
A visitation for Sandra will be held Thursday, April 3, 2025 from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Weed-Corley-Fish Funeral Homes and Cremation Services, 1200 S. Bagdad, Leander, TX 78641. A funeral service will occur Friday, April 4, 2025 at 11:00 AM, Weed-Corley-Fish Funeral Homes and Cremation Services. Sandra will be laid to rest following the service at Liberty Hill Cemetery, 16101 TX-29, Liberty Hill, TX 78642.
