Phyllis LeBaron Williamson, 93, went home to be with her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ August 23, 2022 after a short illness. She resided the past six years at Brookdale Assisted Living on Duval in Austin, Texas.
Phyllis was preceded in death by her husband, Kenneth Vaughn Williamson. She is survived by four daughters and one son: Deborah (Larry) Von Achen Wichita, Kansas; Donna Williamson, Diane (David dec.) Brown, and Dana Williamson Austin, Texas; Kenneth (Monica) Williamson Arlington, Texas; four grandchildren and eight great grandchildren. Phyllis came from a small family, having only one brother, Roger A. Wheeler, who is deceased. She is survived by two nieces in Massachusetts, a nephew in Florida and several great nieces and nephews.
From growing up in Waltham, MA to moving to Pittsburgh, PA; Winnipeg, Manitoba Canada; Wichita, KS and living in Austin, TX the past 48 years, Phyllis never met a stranger. She loved people and that was never more evident than in her final years when she still corresponded with a high school friend and numerous friends from previous neighborhoods. Throughout her life, she was an avid bridge player and enjoyed her weekly outings often giving rides to those who could no longer drive, but still wanted to enjoy the game. Phyllis worked at Sears in the catalog department at Hancock Mall from the late 70’s to the late 80’s.
Phyllis enjoyed serving others whether it be her immediate family or providing meals for the homeless at El Buen Samaritano in Austin. A committed follower of Jesus Christ, it was important for Phyllis to be a member of a church and involved with a body of believers wherever she lived. Shortly after moving to Austin, she and her husband, Vaughn, joined the Episcopal church, attending St. Luke’s where they sang in the choir and Phyllis participated in Daughters of the King. She continued her service in the Episcopal church at St. Christopher’s and subsequently St. John’s where she was a member upon her death.
