She was born on September 3rd, 1928 in San Antonio, Texas. She married the love of her life, Homer Doak Reed of Woodlawn, Arkansas on May 6th, 1950. She finished business school and attended Trinity University. She and her husband attended Hyde Park Baptist Church for 40 years and were charter Members of Austin Baptist Church.
She was a fifth generation Texas and for many years, a member of The Daughters of the Republic of Texas. Her Great-great Grandfather, Abishai Mercer Dickson, died at Goliad, Texas in the War for Texas Independence.
She was a member of a book circle and sewing circle. For 25 years she served in Friendship International, a Baptist ministry to wives of foreign students at the University of Texas.
She played in Bridge clubs and she and Homer played Bridge and 84 with friends. They also loved to travel.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Glen and Carrie Skidmore, her husband, Homer Reed, and her son, Homer David Reed.
She is survived by her two daughters, Linda Jacobson, husband Dan and Cynthia Dennis, husband george. She is also survived by her fourgranddaughters, Miranda Renee Filley (John), Katie Reed Daniel (Joe), Kari Lynn Butler (Rhett) and Keely Ellen Dennis and two great grandsons, Eli Joseph Daniel and Emerson Reed Daniel. And her little dog, Chico.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Austin Baptist Church Building Fund and the Salvation Army.
Graveside services will be at Austin Memorial Park, Weed-Corley-Fish Funeral Home.
