Joseph was born on June 19, 1987 to Nancy Kay Bardeleben (Johnson) and Joseph Patrick Bardeleben at Brackenridge Hospital in Austin, Texas. He spent his early childhood in Pflugerville, Texas, before his family settled in Leander, Texas, where he formed countless lifelong friendships and graduated from Leander High School in 2005.
Following a brief stint at the University of Texas at San Antonio, where he unknowingly shared classes with his future wife, Brittany Nicole Bardeleben (Mueller), Joseph fulfilled a lifelong dream of attending the University of Texas at Austin. On the 40 acres, he played trumpet in the Longhorn Band and earned a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Economics and a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Math.
During his sophomore year in 2006, he shared a Geology class with Brittany, where they helped each other with classwork and established a foundation for their reunion years later. On that cornerstone, they built their relationship when they reconnected in 2012 and started dating. They married on December 13, 2014 at Saint Ignatius Martyr Catholic Church in Austin, Texas, and bought a house in Round Rock, Texas. The couple welcomed the arrival of their son, Colton Patrick Bardeleben, on July 3, 2017, and are expecting the birth of their daughter, Riley Grace Bardeleben, in November.
After graduating from college, Joseph worked for a short time at One West Bank and then at Beckwith Electronic Systems, LLC, where he held the role of Senior Accounting Associate and Office Manager. He enjoyed working for Beckwith and became close with his co-workers. His boss, David Lawson, stated that, “His energy, smile and presence will be greatly missed.”
Joseph was committed to a life of faith and to raising his children in the church. His values focused on putting God first, family second, friends third, and supporting and caring for everyone else he met. He would frequently drop everything for those in need, whether it be a friend or a stranger.
Joseph also had a passion for cars, tinkering with and rebuilding a collection of vehicles, including his prized Nissan Z-Series projects. He scoured online advertisements for mostly 1980’s classic cars that he would pour his sweat and love into. Most recently he gifted one of his projects to his dad on Father’s Day, taking the time to restore and rebuild it. He then surprised him with it at a golf course where Brittany, Colton, Joseph, and his parents spent the day.
In addition to graduating from the University of Texas at Austin, Joseph was a lifelong Longhorn fan. He and his wife were season-ticket holders to Longhorn football games. He religiously watched every UT football game, proudly wore burnt orange, and frequently flashed the “Hook ‘Em” sign every chance he could. He was looking forward to teaching his traditions to Colton and Riley. “Hook ‘Em,” Joseph. You will be greatly missed.
Joseph was preceded in death by his grandfathers, Donald Franklin Bardeleben, Londo Earl Johnson, and James Lemley. Joseph is survived by his spouse, Brittany Nicole Bardeleben; son Colton Patrick Bardeleben and unborn daughter Riley Grace Bardeleben; parents Nancy Kay Bardeleben and Joseph Patrick Bardeleben; half-brother Joshua Lee Bardeleben; and grandparents Annie Belle Bardeleben and Elizabeth Molloy Lemley.
