James E. Steele was on born July 6, 1932 in Evansville, Indiana, the son of Thomas D. and Iris Lee (Madden) Steele. He passed from this life on February 9, 2022 in Austin, Texas, at the age of 89 years. James and Joan Bebout were united in marriage on February 11, 1965 in Dallas, Texas.
James proudly served in the United States Marine Corp from 1951-1959 having been honorably discharged with the rank of Sergeant. He obtained an Associates Degree in Accounting at the Lockyear College of Business in Evansville, Indiana, and was an Accountant for Sun Oil Company for over 30 years. James was a member of the Trinity Angelican Church and was the Usher and Greeters’ Coordinator at Christ Episcopal Church.
Jim enjoyed golf and played courses all over the US and internationally, including "The Old Course" in St. Andrews, Scotland. On two different occasions he shot a hole-in-one. He was an avid reader and enjoyed such authors as Tom Clancy and John Grisham. When he was not reading, he loved spending time with his grandchildren supporting them in their various activities such as hockey, soccer, martial arts, and theater performances.
He is survived by his wife Joan Steele; son, Jonathan and wife, Sharon Steele; daughter, Jennifer
and husband Ben Anderson; grandchildren Dowman James Steele, LeeAnna Nicole Steele,
Samuel Steele Anderson, Madden Flynn Anderson and step-grandson David and wife Catherine Pierson; step-great-grandchildren, Ethan, Kaelynn and Arya Pierson.
Memorial service will be held on Saturday, March 5 at 10:00AM at Trinity Anglican Church, 18900 FM 1431 Jonestown, TX. His ashes will be interred in the Columbarium at Trinity Anglican Church directly following the memorial service.
