Esperanza Molina Ruiz, (November 23, 1934 - November 27, 2022) affectionately known to family and friends as "Hope" lived a long beautiful life. During her 52 years (and 7 months) of marriage to Joe Ruiz, she was lovingly referred to as Guera (pronounced Weta), meaning blondie by her devoted husband. She was a dedicated mother and a go-between to six strong daughters, a passionate grandmother a.k.a. "Momo" to 17 grandchildren, an adoring great-grandmother to 45 children, and finally a great-great grandmother of 10. Hope enjoyed her family and her grandchildren brought her great joy. She was the pied piper to all children including the neighborhood children who also adopted her as their Momo.
Hope was born in Robstown and attended school there. She lightheartedly referred to herself as a Robstown High Cotton Picker. During her life her professions ranged from hair-dresser to retail sales and finally to a church coordinator teaching God's word to children. Hope was also a dedicated member of her Catholic faith serving in many capacities to promote the Lord's message. After several moves from Robstown, Corpus Christi, Dallas, Houston, and Austin, Hope and Joe settled in Leander and attended and helped establish Saint Margaret Mary's Church in Leander and promote growth in Holy Cross Church in Bertram, Texas. She was a key and avid volunteer to the church all her life.
From organizing church bazaars, decorating the church for the holidays, instructing teachers for CCD classes, teaching children in Sunday school, arranging church meals and even janitorial services, she approached all jobs with great enthusiasm.
Besides the pleasure she received from her family, she loved to sew. Each one of us possesses one of her quilts, dolls, and other handmade treasures. Hope was a fierce competitor never letting life deny her from obtaining her goals. From attempting to water ski late in life, to walking 5 miles a day in her mid eighties, she was an adventurer who could draw you in to enjoy her latest passion. We will all remember her love of gardening, sweets, long walks, and her beautiful singing voice. In earlier years, she enjoyed family camping get-togethers. While in her youth, she enjoyed dancing.
Hope was a model of compassion and service to other and the family matriarch who will be profoundly missed by all. She worried about us, rooted for us, protected us, resented us, forgave us, and always kept on loving us. She will be desperately missed by all those left behind. Our hearts are so broken by her loss. She was one of a kind and to be loved by her was to be truly blessed.
Surviving family members include her loyal husband Joe Ruiz; her loving daughters Nelda, Lisa, Joann, Cindy, Debbie, and Becky; siblings, Uncle Robert, Uncle Pete, and Aunt Rosie; many grandchildren, great grandchildren, aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, and nephews whom she loved individually and immeasurably.
Pallbearers include: Grandsons Brandon, Joe, Travis, Shawn Jr, and Dylan, and granddaughters Sunshine and Tiffany.
