Betty Moore passed away peacefully on November 15, 2022,
with family members at her side.
She was born on 9/28/1944, in Velasco, Texas, the second child
of her parents, Lewis Franklin Grafius and Fiona McNab Grafius.
Her childhood years were spent in the Houston area where she
attended Bellaire High School. She served as Secretary of her
senior class before graduating in 1962. She then attended the
University of Texas in Austin, graduating in 1965 with a Bachelor
of Science Degree in Mathematics. After graduating she first
taught mathematics at an Austin middle school and later at her
alma mater, Bellaire High School. During this time, Betty married
and had 2 children - a son, Scott, and a daughter Lori.
Betty’s children were her priority throughout her entire life. During
the 1980’s she decided to expand her career in order to better
provide for her family as a newly single parent. She soon joined
State Farm Insurance as an Independent Agent in Houston, then
later moved her agency to Stafford, Texas. She developed and
headed a very successful agency, which grew to require three
additional employees and provided services to many long-time,
loyal clients.
After retiring in 2002, she continued to devote herself to her
children, helping them through college and advanced education.
She maintained relationships with her many life-long friends,
colleagues, siblings and their expanding families. She enjoyed
enjoyed traveling, socializing with friends and celebrating
holidays with loved ones. She loved meeting new people and
making new friends.
In 2013, she made the move to San Antonio to help her daughter
who was in medical school and pregnant with her first child. She
was eventually known as “Nana” to her two beloved
grandchildren. She treasured this time living with her family as
her “babies” became the loves of her life.
Betty will be remembered by those who love her as a vibrant,
happy woman. She had an incredible ability to forget troubles
and move on to enjoy whatever came next. She never turned
away a cat in need and was quick to welcome strangers. Betty
was truly a “people person” and was happiest when making new
acquaintances and forming valued friendships. Maintaining
relationships with friends and family was her greatest joy.
She is survived by:
Son, Scott Franklin Moore, Ft. Worth, TX
Daughter, Dr. Loren Elizabeth Fisher MD, Leander, TX
Sister, Judy Grafius Griffith, Georgetown, TX
Brother, Jack McNab Grafius (wife, Kathy Wyant Grafius),

And, in addition, many nieces, nephews, great nieces, great
nephews, and other expanded family members, many of whom
lived nearby and intimately knew and loved their “Aunt Betty.”
A family graveside funeral will be held on Monday, November 28.
