Mrs. Edith Allene Hamby Johnson, age 93 of Lawrenceburg died May 20, 2013 at NHC of Scott. She was a native of Giles County, TN, a retired Nurse Techician at Crockett Hospital. She was a member of the Pulaski Street Church of Christ.
She is survived by two great nephews, James “Jim” Alan Christian who was raised as a devoted son and Jeremy Ray Christian; two sisters-in-law, Ramona Chambers Hamby and Willa Dean Trapp Hamby; seven nieces, Brenda Davis, Sheila Hamby, Regina Jernigan, Janet Bosheers, Janis Pandur, Karon Postlethwaite and Sharon Haskiell; four nephews, Randy Hamby, Ronnie Hamby, Robin Hamby and Roger Hamby; as well as a host of great and great-great nephews, nieces and cousins.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Freeland Carrol Hamby and Nina Florence Carr Hamby Nash; her husband, Herman Johnson; two sons, Herman Johnson, Jr. and Jerry Wayne Johnson; one sister, Meter Irene Hamby Christian White; three brothers, Millard Carrol Hamby, George Oswald Hamby and Edward Homer Hamby; one nephew, Charles Ray Christian.
Allene Hamby Johnson was a loving, kind, generous and compassionate woman. She was devoted to God, her husband, her family, her friends and all those who needed assistance. She will be deeply missed by all.
Funeral Service will be held at Pettus-Turnbo Chapel, Wednesday, May 22, 2013 at 2 pm with Jeremiah Tatum and Joe Williams officiating and interment in the Fall River Church of Christ Cemetery. Visitation will be held at Pettus-Turnbo, Tuesday, May 21, 2013 5 ~ 8 pm.
