William G. "Bill" Nye, 83, of Las Vegas, passed away Sunday, May 12, 2013. Born Sept. 29, 1929, in Hartford, Conn., to Mary and Welcome Nye, Bill served in the U. S. Air Force during the Korean and Vietnam wars. After his service in the U.S. Air Force, he was recruited by White Westinghouse and ARAMCO companies as a curriculum writer, and subsequently was the most well-received and liked academic dean for the U.S. Naval School of Health Sciences in Portsmouth, Va., and Tampa College in Florida. He was a wonderful and loving husband, brother and friend. No matter what you needed, he was always there to help. He is survived by his beloved wife, of 37 years, Pearl. Services will be at 9:30 a.m. Friday, May 24, at Las Vegas Chinese Christian Church, 8978 W. Nevso Drive. Burial following at noon at Southern Nevada Veterans Memorial Cemetery, 1900 Veterans Memorial Drive, Boulder City.
