William, or Bill as his family and friends called him, passed away just a week short of his 68th birthday. He was a true fighter until the end, and every time the doctors would count him out, he came back fighting! He is survived by his sister, Carrie Cornell, his brother Ken Cornell, his wife Pam Cornell and two daughters, Christina and Kathleen Cornell, as well as three granddaughters. He was very proud of his family and they were all with him the last few days of his life so he could die peacefully, knowing that he would be remembered.
His family would also like to thank Erlene Cudiamat, a nurse practitioner that took care of Bill for over eight months during his stay at Poet's Walk where he resided. He had a remarkable spirit and was loved by all.
William as a young child was raised in Granada Hills in the San Fernando Valley in California, but the family moved to Las Vegas when his father, Ken Cornell Sr. and the Happy Jesters were performing at the Desert Inn and Stardust. It is there that he attended school, got married and raised his own family.
Billy, as he was known to his family members, loved to play the guitar and played at several gigs all over Las Vegas throughout the years. The most poignant song that he played was a personal rendition he wrote and sang for his father Ken Cornell Sr. at his funeral. It was a tribute to the love he shared with his family and that his family shared equally back to him. He will be missed, but never forgotten! May he rest in Peace.
Fond memories and expressions of sympathy may be shared at www.palmeastern.com for the Cornell family.
