Warren Dalton Whitney was born to Mary Martinez and Randall Whitney on August 23, 1970, in Las Vegas, Nevada. He graduated from Bonanza High School and the University of Nevada, Las Vegas prior to becoming a firefighter in 1995 with the Clark County Fire Department, where he served as a paramedic, was a founding member of the Clark County Fire Department Honor Guard, and was a member of the technical rescue team. Warren believed in giving back to the community and led the Clark County Burn Foundation for many years. The foundation provides for those who have suffered loss due to fire or other emergencies and collects thousands of toys each year for children in need.
Warren held a number of ranks within the fire department, last serving as a deputy fire chief responsible for planning and preparing for special events, law enforcement coordination, homeland security, and special projects.
Warren was not the only member of his family to serve our community; his father, Randall, and sisters, Stacy and Jennifer, served as members of the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department. Their service is one of the central reasons for his desire to work so closely with law enforcement agencies.
He was an active outdoorsman who enjoyed motor sports and valued spending time with his friends, many of whom he worked with on the fire department. Witty and mildly mischievous, he brought energy and laughter to any room.
In 2007, Warren met Alexis Richards, and the two were married on 03/11/11. The two enjoyed travel throughout their marriage and scuba diving in the Caribbean.
Warren and Alexis welcomed a daughter, Madison "Maddy" Alicia Whitney, completing their family, along with Alexis’s two sons, Trevor and Kaden Larsen. Maddy, an accomplished gymnast, was Warren’s pride and joy. Warren ensured that he made time to attend Maddy’s competitions and be present for his family.
Maddy loved that her dad pushed her to be her best at everything she did including gym, diving, and homework. Warren had big dreams for Maddy, as a leader, pilot, or even the president.
Warren’s enthusiasm for life, love of family, and playful spirit will be missed.
A memorial service will begin at 11am on Friday, January 12, 2024 at The Crossing Church, 7950 W. Windmill Lane, Las Vegas.
The family has requested that, in lieu of flowers, donations be made to the Southern Nevada Burn Fund. A link for donations is available at www.theburnfoundation.org.
