Wally, as he was known to family and friends was born on April 27, 1945 in Pasay City, Philippines two months after his father, Captain Raymond Walker was killed in battle. His newly widowed mother, Rose raised him and his two older brothers, Harold and William (Billy) with the help of her parents, Guy and Violet White and her sister Ina White.
When Dad was 8 years old, the family immigrated to the United States only to return to the Philippines in 1957 after the untimely deaths of his Grandfather Guy and Mother Rose.
He joined the United States Army in 1963 and served until 1966, shortly after marrying Linda in January of that year. They left Oklahoma for California and settled in the San Francisco Bay Area where they raised us kids: Rose, Raymond and Walter Jr, better known as JR.
Dad worked for R. Dakin & Co. for 25 years. Almost every one he knew owned a Dakin stuffed animal from
him. In his later years, he worked for Pacific Bicycle Company, where you got it, each grandkid got a new bicycle.
Not a man of many words but, of many self taught talents. Dad landscaped, he built, he cooked and he baked the most amazing rolls that people will talk about and miss for years to come. He enjoyed fishing and photography, hobbies that his rheumatoid arthritis robbed him the pleasure of later in life.
Not overly social, he kept his circle small but, in that circle, he loved to joke and performed many acts of kindness that only recently came to light after his passing as those deeds were shared with us by their recipients. Our family has been touched immensely.
Affectionately known as Buddy to his grandchildren, he leaves behind grandsons Kyle Amescua, Troy, Jett and Dalton Walker and his Princess, his only granddaughter Scarlett Rose who shared his birthday.
Cherished father-in-law to David Amescua and Aleva Walker, brother-in-law to Virginia (Jenny), Harold’s wife and brother-in-law to Linda’s nine younger siblings and their spouses. He was Uncle Wally to dozens of nieces and nephews and will also be missed by Aunts, Uncles and dozens of cousins.
He is now finally at peace and enjoying a wonderful reunion with Mom, his brother Bill, his parents and grandparents and all those dearly departed who we will all see one day again on the shores of heaven.
