Vivian Arnita Wiley, age 95, of Las Vegas, passed away on Tuesday, October 8, 2013 at her home. Born November 7, 1917 in Caldwell, Texas, she had been a Las Vegas resident for 15 years. She devoted her life to helping others and was a social worker for the Welfare Department in Gary, Indiana and with Roosevelt High School in Gary, Indiana prior to her retirement in 1977. Mrs. Wiley has been a Charter Member of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority designated by the founding mothers and a member of Zion United Methodist Church. An ultimate sports fan, she was an avid fan of the Lakers, Bulls and Bears and would watch every match of the Williams sisters. She loved her family, flowers, animals and fishing. She enjoyed walking through the Bellagio Gardens every chance she got. Vivian was the wind beneath the wings of her daughter Bertha (Socrates) Cherry, daughter-in-law Yolanda, three daughters of her heart Michele Wade, Karen Page and Yvonne Edwards; twelve grandchildren, Shelly, Terrell, Michael, Tishuan, Megan, Jennifer, Ashley, Erin, Cheliese, Jalene, William II, Damon Sr. and Angela; fifteen great grandchildren; two brothers William (Lorraine) Hightower and Edward Hightower. She was preceded in death by her husband Arnold B. Wiley; sons Leonard S. Wiley and William A. Wiley.
