Viola Searcy blessed the world with her arrival January 24, 1921 in Cecil, Alabama. She was born to the union of the late Major and Lucinda Rose. She is the last of ten siblings to depart this life to be with her Lord and Savior.
As a young woman Viola left Alabama for a brighter future in Detroit, Mi. where she later met and wed James Anderson, with whom she was blessed with three children. After James’ passing Viola raised her children alone until she met and later happily married Jiles Searcy and her family and life grew. For the next 30 years raised and nurtured a large proud family of children and grandchildren. Family and aiding others were her passions. She could always be depended upon to be there in a time of need, bringing comfort and solace or whatever was needed. Forever giving of herself, she was a true inspiration. She enjoyed family gatherings and functions.
Viola loved to travel the world enjoying life. Her zest for life was contagious and made everyone around her happy.
Viola peacefully departed this life surrounded by love December 15, 2011 at home with her dedicated daughter and husband Aletha and Ernest and accompanied by her daughter Katherine. She was preceded in death by her father, Major; her loving mother Lucinda; brothers, Alvin, Louis, Jessie, Heisal, sisters; Octavia, Bay Bay, Gertrude, Alberta, Ray; her son Timothy, grandson Dane, and the late Jiles Searcy.
She leaves to cherish her life and memory her children, Lavern, Theresa (Ron -deceased), Anthony (Jammie), Ervin(Linda), Verdell, Katherine(Alma), Aletha(Ernest), Valenthia, Sharon, 24 grandchildren, 19 great grandchildren, 5 great great grandchildren, and a host nieces, nephews, friends and many who called her mom.
