Vernon Andrew West

Vern Andrew West, 69, of Henderson, passed away Sept. 22, 2010, at Nathan Adelson Hospice, battling Multiple Myeloma for over 4 years. Vern was born Feb. 6, 1941, in Sandusky, Ohio, and was preceded in death by his parents, Floyd and Lucille West; and brother, Daniel West. Vern graduated from Defiance College (Ohio) in 1964 and spent 18 years teaching and coaching in Lenawee County, Mich. He moved to Nevada in 1982 and spent 19 years teaching in Clark County at Indian Springs High School and Cannon and Greenspun Junior High Schools. Vern also served as usher supervisor at the Thomas & Mack Center for 20 years and as guest services manager at the Orleans Arena for three years. Vern is survived by his wife, of 41 years, Dianne (Alcock) West; and their son, Jeremy John West. Visitation will be 2-4 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 26, with services following, both at King David Memorial Chapel, 2697 E. Eldorado Lane.
