One of six brothers and sisters, he was born in Reteag, Bistrița-Năsăud, Romania on July 5, 1944. He arrived in the United States in 1972 after escaping from communist Romania through Yugoslavia and finally Italy. After arriving in New York City, he settled in Chicago and began working in the medical instrument business.
Always proud of his Romanian heritage, he later married on Christmas Day in 1977 and is survived by his loving wife of 42 years, Maria. In 1987, he moved with his wife and son to Southern California where he found success as a small business owner. He enjoyed the sunshine and was passionate about tennis and soccer. In 1992, Vasile and his family again moved to find more sunshine in Las Vegas, where he became an active member of the Romanian community as President of the Romanian Orthodox Church in Las Vegas, which he helped build. He also welcomed all Romanian movie stars, artists and performers to Las Vegas to promote the Romanian culture to everyone. Always friendly and outgoing, Vasile was known to lead by example, aid people in time of need, and earn the respect of his friends and peers.
Vasile is missed very dearly by his devoted son Felix and wife Maria, daughter-in-law, and two grandchildren. His last wish was to be interred in Romania, among his family in Transylvania.
