Valerie Anne Peet

Valerie Anne Peet, 68, of Las Vegas, Nevada passed away on March 5, 2014 from ovarian cancer. Valerie was born in Milwaukee, WI on July 26, 1945.  She moved to Las Vegas in 1992, and was a waitress at Calico Jack’s for 20 years.  She truly enjoyed spending time with her friends and family and most of all, her dog, Spencer. Valerie was preceded in death by her parents, Wilbur Matthews and Frances Cooney; and sister, Lynn Christensen. Valerie is survived by her two sons, James and Shawn Peet, both of Anchorage, AK; grandson, Jacob Peet of Anchorage, AK; brother and sister in-law, Robert & Veray Matthews of Las Vegas, NV; brother in-law and sister, Greg & Debbie Umatum; nephew and niece, Reece and Rachel Umatum of Las Vegas, NV.   She was also blessed with lifelong friends, Donna, Linda, Laura, Leslie, Faye and many more that were such a big part of her life. A memorial service will be held at 1:00 PM, Saturday March 15, 2014 at Palm Mortuary, 1600 S. Jones Blvd., Las Vegas, NV  89146.  Another Celebration of Life will be held following the service at Calico Jack’s on West Charleston from 2:00 PM – 4:00 PM.  Her wishes were in lieu of flowers, any memorial donations may be given to Nevada Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (Nevadaspca).
