Treva T. Scott, 87, passed away peacefully Tuesday, April 20, 2010, in Mesa, Ariz. Treva was preceded in death by her parents, John Chester Umberger-Trimmer and Hattie Sipe; two brothers, Shelly Trimmer and Edgar Trimmer; and sister, Virgie Wolf. Treva is survived by her brother, Richard Trimmer; sister, Cecelia Kasten; two sons, Noel Scott and Eldred Scott II "Chip"; two daughters, Shere Scott and Heather Kulka. She is also survived by six grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren. Treva was born in Erie, Pa., where she met and married her childhood sweetheart in 1946. She then moved to Santa Ana, Calif., in 1958, where she worked in the field of electronics for approximately 10 years. In 1971, she took a job with the U.S. Postal Service, where she started out as a mail carrier and advanced to be one of the first female mechanics, pioneering the way for other women. She was also one of the few females to be promoted to the position of postal inspector in 1988. In 1993, she moved to Las Vegas, where she stayed active working for Wal-Mart and the Venetian Casino and Hotel. Treva stayed active throughout her life working two to three jobs right up until she was 85. At the age of 83, she won a gold medal in a swimming competition during a corporate challenge for the Venetian Casino. Treva had a love for life, dancing and enjoying many Vegas acts in which she had helped to promote. Treva had a love for poetry, writing and reciting ones she had written. Treva loved to travel and was fortunate enough to visit many countries. She always had a smile and kind word for everyone she met and knew. Treva had a great understanding of life and was always willing to share her knowledge with others. She will be profoundly missed by all whose lives she touched. Visitations will be from 10 a.m.-3:30 p.m., with services following at 4 p.m. Friday, April 30, at Palm Mortuary, 1600 S. Jones Blvd. In lieu of flowers, a donation to the ALS Association, 4643 E.
