Deacon Tom Sibley was born to Robert and Sally Sibley in Kilgore, Texas on October 23rd, 1932. He passed away on February 7th, 2021 at the age of 88 years old. Tom was one of 10 brothers and sisters. He was preceded in death by his loving wife, Evelyn Joyce Sibley, of over 60 years of marriage and his daughter, LaVonne Sibley. He also was preceded in death by his brothers, Van Sibley, Napolian Sibley, Allen Sibley, George Sibley, and his sisters Wilma Hall, Lavera Byrd, Katherine Forston, and Robbie Jefferson.
Tom leaves behind his two children, daughter, Tami Wilburn and son, Anthony Sibley; son-in-law, Johnny Wilburn; grandchildren Shelby Wilburn, Brandon Sibley, Bianca Wilburn, and Lauryn Wilburn; great-grandchild Faith Sibley; and his two sisters, Vivian Boyce and Velma Sibley Mitchell.
Tom served in the Air Force from July 1952-September 1972 and was promoted to the Rank of Staff Sergeant during that time. He served in the Korean and Vietnam conflicts. During this time, he met Evelyn Joyce Dedrick who became his wife. Tom's last duty station was at Nellis Air Force Base where he retired after 20 years of service.
Tom worked at the Stardust and Wynn Hotels after his retirement from the Air Force for over 30 years as an Operating Engineer. While working as an Operation Engineer, he also owned his own business, TS Air Conditioning and Maintenance. He pursued and graduated with an Associates Degree in Engineering from the College of Southern Nevada. He was a member of the King Solomon Masonic Lodge #2.
Tom was an honest, loyal, and dedicated man both in his home and church life. He faithfully served as a Deacon at his places of worship starting at Unity Baptist, Victory Baptist and concluding at Mountaintop Faith Ministries. He loved spending quality time with his family and friends and had a vibrant personality and a giving heart. If he wasn't telling stories or laughing, he was helping others. He will be greatly missed by many as an active resident in the Las Vegas Valley for 53 years. His loving personality and warm smile will be deeply missed by his family and friends.
