He was born June 10, 1968 in San Diego, California to Thomas and Tanya Sage. He met his wife Bobbi while attending high school in San Diego. They were married in 1989.
After graduating high school in 1987, Thomas moved to Las Vegas to become an electrician. In 1989, he began his military career by enlisting in the United States Coast Guard. After basic recruit training in Camp May New Jersey he was assigned to the Coast Guard Cutter Morgenthau and Coast Guard Cutter Munro in Alameda, California. In 1990, he was transferred to Virginia where he worked at Group Hampton Roads and Cape Henry Lighthouse as the lighthouse keeper. He advanced to MK2 in 1995 and was stationed at Coast Guard Station Coinjock in Elizabeth City, North Carolina. In 1999, his journey took him back to California where he was stationed at Coast Guard Station Golden Gate and then at ISC Alameda Metal Fab Shop. In June of 2003, he advanced to MK1. During his time as a MK1, he was stationed on the Coast Guard Cutter Boutwell, ISC Alameda Metal Fab Shop, Coast Guard Cutter Bertholf, and NESU/Base Alameda NED. During his time at NESU he advanced to MKC. He retired October 2014 as a MKC.
Tom loved Nascar, camping, Go-Kart racing, woodworking, and spending time with family and friends.
He is survived by his wife Bobbi; his daughters Jessica and Kayla; his sons Mike and Matt; his granddaughters Evalyna and Mya; and his sister Lori.
Funeral services will be held at 1:00pm, May 5, 2018 at Palm Mortuary, King David Chapel.
