Thomas Cassimere Franks was born on February 27, 1945, in Honolulu, Hawaii. Thomas met his childhood sweetheart, Peggylyn Evalani Auld, in 1961. They were married on February 14, 1964 until her recent passing on July 1, 2016.
The year of 2016 was a bittersweet year, due to the loss of his soul-mate, wife and best friend. Thomas was a family man to the core, sacrificing personal luxuries, for the growth of his family and making sure his kids had a great education through private school. He was also a strict disciplinarian.
At an early age, Thomas worked as a roofer with his brother-in-law Ronald Aila. He then became a salesman for Rainbow Vacuums. Thomas prospered and was hired in 1973 for the Civil Service at the Kaneohe Marine Corp Air Station and retired in May of 1999.
Thomas then relocated to Las Vegas in 2000. He worked for the Clark County School District from 2003, until his sudden passing on December 27, 2016. He enjoyed being a part of helping the less fortunate students. He found so much joy of being a "bus driver" and the bus yard employees/friends became his second home!!
Thomas always strove to make a better life for himself as well for his family. He had "Big Dreams" to win the "Lottery". THIS DREAM BECAME AN OBSESSION. He then formed a lottery club for family and friends.
Thomas became a father at 18 years old. The challenges of being a young father and the need to provide in keeping a roof over their heads, was a hard and long struggle. But Thomas and Peggy found a way to make it work. His limited school education was a short coming to his endeavors.
His nickname was "PROFESSOR" named by his dad. You would not have thought of him any less; by the way he conducted himself. Thomas was a "Hawaiian at Heart". His home was always welcome to all he came to meet. The legacy that Thomas has left with us is his true love, deep respect and compassion for all.
Thomas was preceded in death by his wife Peggylyn; his parents John and Lillian; and his brother Dennis.
He is survived by his four kids, Thomas, Tammie, Troy and Terrie; his two sisters Cathy and Genevieve; and his brother Glen.
