When dawn broke in Palestine, Texas on August 16, 1940, Lillie Mae Taylor- Jackson and Dennis Green (both preceded him in death) welcomed their son into the world, Theodore (Ted, “T”) Green. He was raised by his grandmother Mrs. Emma Ross (also preceded him in death).
From Kindergarten through high school, he earned honor grades. He attended AM Story High School where he graduated with honors. He went on to attend Prairie View A & M University where he received a full ride basketball scholarship. After completing one year of college, he decided to enter the Air Force in September 1959 and was stationed at Nellis Air Force Base. He was honorably discharged in September 1965.
On August 24, 1959, he married his high school sweetheart Ella Phillips Green. Their union was blessed with three beautiful children, his “1st Born” as he often called her, Jackie Green-Ingram, Victor Green, (Ralonda), and Darryl Green.
Ted began his occupational career at TIMET in Henderson, Nevada in 1963. Starting in the warehouse, Ted was promoted to a Production Foreman in Reduction in 1974. He remained there until the new Vacuum Distillation Process (VDP) operation began in 1992. Ted was one of the initial employees to train in Japan for the VDP. In 2003, after 40 years of hard work and dedication, he retired from TIMET. He was an avid dancer in his younger days, he loved to listen to the Blues, playing dominoes, and pinochle. In his retirement, he took up the game of golf as a hobby. On April 1, 2012, Ted was baptized at Victory Missionary Baptist Church.
In addition to his loving and devoted wife and children, all of Las Vegas, Ted is survived by his brother Leon Joseph of Dallas, TX, and raised like a sister, his cousin Patricia Meadows (Melvin) of Hempstead, NY, a brother-in law Willie Phillips, of Houston, TX, his God-daughter Camille Morris-Henry of Las Vegas, NV, a daughter-in law Ralonda Green, Las Vegas, NV; grandchildren, Nicole Ingram, Myles Ingram, Jessica Green, all of Las Vegas, NV, Victor Green Jr. of Oakland, CA, Darryl Green Jr, of Las Vegas, NV, Jason Green of Sacramento, CA, and Javoulaee Green, Las Vegas, NV. He also leaves behind six great grandchildren, a host of aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews, his Palestine, Texas school mates, and dear friends. We can’t forget his 1st Saturday of every month breakfast crew from TIMET, Glen Alexander, Robert McKinney, and Jesse Nedellin. His neighborhood posse Walter Banks Sr., Will Richey, Dave Heckard, Roger Jones, JB Hill, and Ray Williams. And of course, his furry best friend Max.
