In lieu of flowers please make donations to Opportunity Village in Suzanne's name. Suzanne (Stevens) Dunn, 46, left this world for a better and more peaceful one on August 7, 2016. Suzanne was born in Toledo, Ohio and grew up in one of its suburbs, Ottawa Hills, where she was a proud member of Ottawa Hills High School, Class of 1988. Suzanne followed the path of her mother, Karen, and her father, Michael, to Northwestern University, where she received her degree in journalism from the nation's pre-eminent journalism program, the Medill School of Journalism (something she never permitted her husband, Mark, a Mizzou Journalism grad, to forget). Suzanne worked in television news as a reporter/producer. During a stint in Cape Girardeau, Missouri, she met Mark, who was working in St. Louis. The two dated long distance, as Suzanne's career took her from Cape Girardeau to Detroit. Following an engagement and wedding, Suzanne moved to St. Louis, where she worked at KTVI-TV, becoming the youngest producer (25) in that market to produce a major evening newscast. Suzanne was passionate about everything she did, but particularly her work in TV news. Nothing meant more to her than the news business. That changed, however, in 1998, when Suzanne gave birth to her first daughter, Melanie. After Melanie's birth, she channeled her passion into motherhood, and that passion intensified even more following the birth of her second daughter, Samantha. Suzanne and Mark moved to Las Vegas in 2002, where she worked at various times for KVBC-TV and KTNV-TV. Suzanne taught and gave her girls many things that set them up to be the remarkable young women they are today. She was the quintessential "Mama Bear", and heaven help anyone who tried to come between her and her cubs. There was nothing that meant more to her than Mel and Sam. Suzanne knew many people from many different places and from all walks of life, all of whom counted her as a loyal, trusted friend and confidant. Loved by many, and will be missed by all. Suzanne is survived by her husband Mark, daughters Melanie and Samantha, her father, Michael Stevens, her brother, Andrew Stevens, sister-in-law, Lisa, and her nieces and nephew Zoe, Maggie and Tyler, her sister, Jennifer Stevens, brother-in-law and sister-in-in law, Michael and Beth Cook and niece and nephew Halle and Jason Cook. Her mother, Karen Stevens, predeceased her.
