Steven Anthony Straub who was also affectionately known as “JJ”, “Coach” and “Senator Straub” was born December 17, 1968 and passed away November 17, 2019 in Henderson, NV. Steve is preceded in death by his grandparents Emilio and Caroline Fedeli and Darrell and Trudy Straub.
Steve is survived by his parents Jan and Frank Gaudutis, Steve and Sue Straub, brothers and sisters-in-laws Adam and Dee Straub, and Jason and Pam Straub and their son, Steve’s nephew Easton, and uncles and aunts Emilio Fedeli and Greg and Andrea Fedeli and Donna and Fred Dee, and Evelyn Gaudutis.
Steve graduated from Mater Dei High School in 1987 and spent his junior year at the Walworth Barbour American International School in Israel. Steve graduated from the University of Nevada Las Vegas (UNLV) with a bachelor’s in communication.
Steve was a basketball coach for Santa Margarita H.S. in Santa Margarita, CA, Woodbridge H.S. in Irvine, CA, Mojave H.S. in Las Vegas, NV and Liberty H.S. in Henderson, NV. He spent 8 years on Johnston Atoll working for Raytheon. After returning from Johnston Atoll he became a Realtor most recently with Platinum Real Estate Professionals.
Steve was also a Court Appointed Special Advocate (CASA) volunteer and truly loved advocating for the children committed to his care.
Last year on his 50th birthday he went sky-diving showing us all that you should live in the moment. He traveled the world, lived life to the fullest and was the best friend anyone could have. He could engage and become friends with all. We will miss his caring and kind heart, endearing spirit, and compassionate soul. He will be waiting to greet all of us when we join him in heaven, and he will be one hell of a tour guide.
