Steve Terry Skivington

Steve Terry Skivington was known as many things to many people. He was a loved one, a friend, and someone special. To family and friends who knew him best, Steve will be remembered as a very exceptional person.

He was the son of George and Volga Skivington. Steve grew up in Elko, Nevada. He was raised with three brothers; Joe, Fred and Jack. Steve was usually involved in all sorts of activities with them. They experienced rivalries typical of a growing family, but they shared many life experiences over the years.

As a young boy, Steve had a number of interests. Like most children, he enjoyed playing and making up games. He was curious about the world around him and was often eager to explore it. Steve was an active child who took part in football. In his spare time he liked hunting, fishing and catching frogs. Steve's memorable achievements included being a good student and well liked by his peers. However, to Steve, the most fun was simply playing and spending time with his friends.

A typical teenager, Steve had a fairly happy high school experience, making that critical transition from adolescence to adulthood. He enjoyed some classes more than others, having favorite subjects and teachers. He will be remembered by classmates for always having good grades.

Steve enjoyed his college years, which may have been a challenge with all of the academics, responsibilities, and the sudden freedom that accompanied them, but Steve was able to manage the balancing act. He earned his Business Degree from Arizona State University in 1977. He also pursued graduate school, earning his Law Degree from Arizona State University in 1980. His favorite course was civil procedure. His favorite professor was Mike Berch. Steve's other interests included being the President of the Business fraternity.

Empathic and loyal, Steve was determined to make his new family happy. Steve worked hard to be a good father to his children and he did his best to fulfill their needs. Steve was blessed with two daughters, Annie and Isabelle.

Fortunately, Steve enjoyed what he did for a living. Showing a strong work ethic, Steve worked diligently and did his best to succeed in his career as a lawyer. He always sought to be a team player, doing what was necessary in order to get the job done.

Steve enjoyed his leisure time by taking part in various hobbies. His favorite pursuits were gardening, brewing his own beer, spending time outdoors and camping. He was content to enjoy his favorite pastimes alone but was also willing to share his interests with others.

Steve found pleasure in sports. In high school, Steve played football. He was also something of a sports fan and enjoyed following his favorite events whenever he had the chance to do so. Tops on his list was college football.

Throughout his life, Steve was a doer and was always actively involved in professional and community organizations. In college, Steve joined the Business fraternity. Throughout his later years, Steve was an active member of the State Bar of Arizona, Nevada and Trial Lawyers Association. Steve was a man who took pride in upholding his beliefs. Politically, Steve was a strong supporter of the Republican Party.

Though he never set out to gain individual recognition, Steve was given accolades for his many and varied accomplishments throughout his life. Some of his most prestigious awards included winning first place in the Arizona State Fair for his home made beer.

Steve enjoyed traveling and time away on vacations. It was a chance for him to renew and relax, to visit new places and experience new things. Favorite vacations included deep sea fishing in San Diego with Annie and traveling through Europe with Inna.

Steve was a lover of animals and cherished his pets. One of his favorites was Shag, a Golden Retriever dog. His family was rounded out by his Yorkshire Terrier named Toby and was given to Isabelle as a surprise.

Steve fought a brave battle and beat cancer. He suffered from limited schleraderma and pulmonary hyper tension. He is survived by his wife Inna, and his two daughters, Annie and Isabelle.

Simply stated, Steve was a good and kind person. He was an individual who will for all time be remembered by his family and friends as being a caring and giving person, someone who was a vital part of their lives. Steve leaves behind him a legacy of life-long friendships and many cherished memories. Everyone whose life he touched will always remember Steve Terry Skivington.
