Stephen Alva Kirby was born on May 17, 1941. He first greeted the world in Las Vegas, Nevada at the Clark County General Hospital. His parents were Thomas and Myrtle Kirby. Steve lived his entire life in Las Vegas. His grandparents were Stephen and Bertha Carter. As a child Steve was a member of the Boy Scouts in Las Vegas, he played baseball, played in a band, and enjoyed building model airplanes. He always had a love for Hot Rods. Steve attended Elementary School at Fifth Street Grammar School. Steve attended Las Vegas High School, his favorite class was automotive. His first car was a 1954 4 Door Chevy. In the late 50's early 60's Steve was a member of the Crap Shooters Car Club.Steve attended the College of Southern Utah and received his Associate of Science Degree in Industrial Education in 1964. Steve's primary occupation was a weldor and fabricator. He worked for 17 years at Las Vegas Paving as a Heavy Duty Repair Weldor. One accomplishment Steve did as a weldor/fabricator was that he helped build the Union Pacific bridge in Las Vegas that goes over I-15. He was also talked about in several magazines for his fabrication work. Some of Steve's favorite hobbies were Hot Rods and Drag Racing. His favorite music was Oldies from the 50's and 60's. He loved to eat out and have a great time visiting with old friends, some of which he had his entire life. His favorite food was Mexican, and Chappalas Restaurant was his favorite place to dine. He always celebrated his birthdays with his friends there. His favorite drink was Rum and Coke. Steve had one child Daniel Kent Kirby. Dan has many fond memories of fabricating and building cars with his dad. One vacation Danny remembers his dad taking him on was to Disneyland. Steve has two grandchildren, Danielle and Seth Kirby. Steve passed away on March 21,2011 at Sunrise Hospital in Las Vegas, Nevada. He was 69 years old. He was preceded in death by his father and mother. Steve is survived by his only son Daniel Kirby, his wife Tedi and his two beautiful grandchildren, Danielle and Seth. Steve's services were handled by Palm Mortuary in Las Vegas. Steve will be greatly missed by all who new and loved him.
