Solomon (Solo) Asberom passed away quietly on August 27, 2012 in Las Vegas, Nevada. Our dearly beloved Solomon was born on November 16, 1948 in Asmara, Eritrea to his father Grazmatch Asberom Abraha Tesemma and his mother Woizero Tsehaytu Gebreselassie. He attended pre-school and elementary school at Comboni and Haile Selassie I Elementary School in Asmara, Eritrea, and proceeded to continue his education in secondary school at Medhane Alem School in Addis Abeba, Ethiopia. In 1972 he received a B.S. degree in History from Patrice Lumumba University in Moscow, USSR, and in 1976 he received his B.A. degree in Political Science from the University of Nebraska in Lincoln, Nebraska. In 1980 Solomon was married to Zenebech Eshetu and they had two beautiful children, Bruck and Rahel. They lived in San Jose and Los Angeles, California for many years before Solo moved to Las Vegas, Nevada. In August 1995 Solomon then married Tsion Gebreamlak. They have one child, Naomi. In September of 1968, a time of political unrest in Eritrea, he was forced to flee from his beloved homeland. He traveled on foot, under extreme hardship and danger, across the border into the Sudan. He took refuge in Khartoum, Sudan for approximately one year and then traveled to Beirut, Lebanon. After a brief stay in Beirut, Lebanon, his enduring desire to further his education took him to the USSR and then to the United States. During his sojourn abroad Solomon developed a strong love for languages. Among his accomplishments were the mastery of multiple languages, including English, Italian, Russian, Arabic and his mother tongues Tigrigna and Amharic, which he effectively deployed in his career as a court translator over the years. Solomon is survived by his wife Tsion, his children, Bruck, Rahel and Naomi, his parents, Grazmatch Asberom and Woizero Tsehaytu, a brother, Theodros, three sisters, Mona, Esther and Ethiopia and a host of uncles, aunts, nieces, nephews, family, friends and admirers. Arrangements under the direction of Palm Eastern Mortuary, Las Vegas, NV.
